Akiva Korn

Co-Founder & Managing Director
Akiva holds the position of Managing Director of Surgical Monitoring Services. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in neuroscience from Bar-Ilan University and Ben-Gurion University respectively, followed by a two-year apprenticeship in surgical neurophysiology in the United States under the guidance of Prof. Joseph Danto.

Akiva has been a diplomate of the American Board of Neurophysiologic Monitoring since 2010, and regularly participates as an invited lecturer in national and international meetings, congresses and instructional courses on the subject of surgical neurophysiology.

He holds a BSc from Tel Aviv University in Biology and Psychology with an emphasis on neuroscience, and an MA in Brain and Cognition from the school of Psychological Sciences & Neuroscience, also from Tel Aviv University.
Atara Pasternak Greenberg

Operations Manager
Atara joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2007. She has a BA from Yeshiva University, an RN from Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, and a Masters in Health Administration from Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
Overseeing the internal operations of the company and professional communication with outside surgical groups, Atara plays tactical and strategic roles in shaping Surgical Monitoring Services.

Yifat Bitan Talmor

Surgical Neurophysiologist / Regulatory Compliance Manager
Yifat is the regulatory compliance manager of Surgical Monitoring Services.
Yifat joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2009, and in addition to performing intraoperative monitoring she oversees the regulatory and logistical chain of the company.

Yifat holds a MMedSc in Neurophysiology from Ben Gurion University.

Sam Rosenblum

Dr. Rosenblum is a DC and senior neurophysiologist.

Sam has a B.s. Life Science from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He is a Doctor of Chiropractic from N.Y. College of Chiropractic.

Sam spent 20 years in the USA as a Physician’s Assistant, specializing in spine and orthopedic surgery before joining Surgical Monitoring Services in 2007, where he has excelled not only in performing intraoperative neurophysiology but also in educating and promoting the next generation of surgical neurophysiologists.

Muna Jubran

Surgical Neurophysiologist
Dr. Jubran joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2015 and proudly serves in Surgical Monitoring Services’ northern branch.

Muna holds a PhD in Neuroscience from The Weizmann Institute of Science. During her studies, she investigated the mechanisms of sensory adaptation in cortical and thalamic neurons using electrophysiological methods.

Sagi Gudes

Surgical Neurophysiologist
Dr. Gudes joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2018. Sagi is a valued member of Surgical Monitoring Services’ northern branch.

Sagi earned a PhD in neurobiology from the Hebrew University, specializing in the physiology of the sensory pathways (pain and itch mechanisms). During his research Dr. Gudes assisted in the establishment of a new university research laboratory; development and consolidation of new methods and implementation of specialized research protocols.

Yahel joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2017.

Lotem Warhaftig

Surgical Neurophysiologist
Lotem joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2018 shortly after completing a MSc at the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center, Bar-Ilan University, where she focused on designing, operating, interpreting and analyzing electrophysiological experiments for studying the neuronal mechanism of motor behavior.
Prior to her formal degree, she worked at The Neural Interfaces Laboratory at Bar Ilan improving upon bidirectional interactions between computerized systems and the central nervous system.

Sarah joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2021 after undergoing an intensive training period in surgical neurophysiology in the Division of Neurosurgery at Tel Aviv Medical Center.

Sarah earned a BA in Psychology and Education at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and an MA in Clinical and Applied Neuropsychology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Yehudit Gnatek

Surgical Neurophysiologist
Yehudit holds an M.Med.Sc. in neurophysiology from Ben Gurion University in Be’er Sheva, where she researched the involvement of the cholinergic system in inflammation and epileptogenesis, at the Experimental Neurosurgery Laboratory.
After eleven years of serving as a senior research assistant at Sheba Medical Center, in 2023 Yehudit decided to return to her favorite field of neurophysiology and joined Surgical Monitoring Services.

Irina Vendrov

Irina joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2023 after undergoing an intensive training period and working as surgical neurophysiologist in the Division of Neurosurgery at Tel Aviv Medical Center.
Irina earned a MSc at the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center, Bar-Ilan University where she focused on designing, operating, interpreting and analyzing electrophysiological experiments, in the Neural Cognition Laboratory, exploring the neuronal activity patterns in the Gigantocellular Reticular Nucleus during voluntary movement.

Roman Dvorkin
PhD
Surgical Neurophysiologist
Roman earned his PhD from the Technion, studying synaptic plasticity in networks of cultured neurons using advanced imaging and electrophysiological approaches.

He continued to postdoctoral fellowship in Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY, USA, studying the role of noradrenergic neuromodulation of maternal behavior in mice applying state-of-the-art electrophysiological and imaging techniques in freely-behaving animals.

Reut Ashkenazy

Reut joined Surgical Monitoring Services in April 2025, bringing with her a strong background in biomedical engineering and neuroscience.
She holds an M.Sc. from Bar-Ilan University, where she specialized in diagnostic technologies and neurophysiology. Her experience includes EEG research, data analysis, and hands-on lab work .

Naomi Kahana

Cognitive Neuropsychologist
Dr. Kahana joined the Surgical Monitoring Services team in 2022. A licensed Neuropsychologist since 2016, Dr. Kahana now practices as a Clinical Neuropsychologist in the Division of Neurosurgery department at Tel Aviv Medical Center where she focuses on her unique and vast expertise in cognitive mapping and monitoring during awake brain surgery.

Dr. Kahana earned her PhD from Bar Ilan University, followed by a clinical fellowship at Harvard University’s Boston Children’s Hospital. She is currently completing her postdoctoral research on the neuroanatomy of language function at Tel Aviv University.

Shmulik Appel

Clinical Oversight
Dr. Appel is a neurologist at Barzilai Medical Center and holds a MD from The Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv. He completed his residency in Neurology at the Sheba Medical Center in 2009 before going to postdoc fellowships in epilepsy at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and at the Jefferson Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Appel joined Surgical Monitoring Services in 2012 and provides clinical oversight for Surgical Monitoring Services’ professional team.
